Julia Philpott is an empathetic coach who draws on 20+ years of operational, management, learning & development and HR experience with organisations such as Ford Motor Company, Virgin Atlantic and Tiger Beer UK.
Julia has been a leadership coach for nine years, typically working with Directors and CEOs, but with a diverse mix of clients, ranging from a colonel in the British Army to the head of a City stockbroking firm. Client organisations include Santander Consumer Finance, McLaren, Asia Pacific Breweries and Mazda UK. Specifically in sport-related fields, Julia has coached a National Netball Coach and the Team Leader of a Grand Prix pit crew.
As well as being a keen swimmer and runner, Julia is a classically-trained musician and still performs to a high standard as a soloist and in local ensembles. Julia therefore has a keen understanding of the commitment involved in regular practice / training and the skills required to manage performance anxiety effectively. Her recent degree in Psychology (Open University) has also contributed to this understanding and effectiveness.
Julia’s strengths are her ability to really listen, i.e. listen empathetically and assist clients to fully understand their situation rather than diving in with solutions – she practices a non-directive style of coaching based on the Co-Active coaching model. She believes that every individual’s development journey is totally unique and respects that uniqueness in the coaching relationship by using an eclectic mix of leadership models (e.g. SCARF, EI, Hay Group Leadership Styles) and coaching tools (e.g. GROW, NLP Meta Mirror, Personal Construct Psychology) to help bring about positive change.
Julia truly cares about her clients and their success.
